Congressman (Ret) David Hobson

Congressman David Hobson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Withrow High School in 1954. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1958, and a law degree from Ohio State University in 1963. He served in the Ohio Air National Guard from 1958 to 1963. Hobson served as an Ohio state senator from 1982 to 1990, serving as President of the Ohio Senate from 1988 to 1990. Congressman Hobson was elected to Congress from Ohio’s 7th District in 1990 and served from January of 1991 until January of 2009. While in Congress, Mr. Hobson served as the chairman and ranking member of the House Appropriations Energy and Water Development Subcommittee; chairman of the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee; senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee; and member of both the Veterans Affairs/Housing Subcommittee and the Budget Committee. Congressman Hobson is a strong supporter of AFIT and a proponent of its contributions to the mission of the AF and DoD. In 2005 Congressman Hobson was awarded an Honorary Doctoral Degree from AFIT.
