Colonel Joseph E. Zeis, USAF (Ret)

Joseph E. Zeis, Jr. is Executive Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer, with the Dayton Development Coalition (DDC). The DDC is a non-profit corporation formed to lead regional economic development and advocacy. He is responsible for the identification, facilitation and implementation of opportunities to support business development in the greater Dayton region in support of government and non-government entities.

Born and raised in Washington, DC, he graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. He holds Master’s Degrees in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Col Zeis is a 1987 graduate of the United States Air Force Test Pilot School, and has flown 27 types of aircraft, to include the F-111, F-15E, the B-2, the F-4, NKC-3135 and the AT-38. He is a Master Navigator with over 1800 hours in primarily fighter aircraft, and was the first USAF navigator to fly the B-2.

Joe is a retired United States Air Force Colonel, with over 26 years of service. He has had a variety of duties in his career, to include flight test, operations, acquisition, senior personnel management, and he was the Executive to the Four-star Commander of Air Force Materiel Command. Joe has commanded at the Group and Wing levels.
