In this article, The AFIT Foundation will be recognizing Professor Douglas Hodson, Professor of Software Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Professor Hodson received his Ph.D. In Computer Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in 2009. He got involved in the military due to his work for the University of Dayton Research Institute and his interest in PC computers. Professor Hudson now enjoys teaching Software Engineering classes at AFIT and continuously learning. While performing research at AFIT, one of the best moments happened to Professor Hodson. While working on his dissertation, he was able to “take back” information he had learned to home organization and incorporate new knowledge gained into existing software products. Professor Hodson graduated with degrees from Wright State University and the University of Dayton, but AFIT is what he considers the most important experience, as that is where he was able to perform research and make positive impacts to existing systems. As a civilian Professor Hodson’s best advice to those entering military service would be to enjoy all the experiences you will encounter. You will work hard in the military, but the experiences you encounter will be worth it. He has not seen a military person retire with any regrets. Thank you, Professor Hodson!
