In this highlight article, The AFIT Foundation recognizing Dr. Birce Boga, Industrial Engineer in Ankara, Turkey!

Dr. Boga graduated in 2002 from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology with a MS in Systems Engineering. She joined the military because of love for her country and its people. She wanted to serve and protect them. Dr. Boga is now retired from the Turkish Air Force and is still working in the TAI KAAN project, the first Turkish fighter jet project as an Operations Analysis Engineer.

A favorite memory Dr. Boga has from AFIT is when Lt. Col. E. Price Smith offered his garden to the Turkish students who needed a place for sacrificing animals in Kurban Bayram. He was very thoughtful and kind, and she was grateful for this kind gesture!

AFIT positively impacted Dr. Boga’s life because after graduating, she worked in the Operations Research field and pursued her PhD in Industrial Engineering. She led classes at universities in the decision-making field. The courses she learned at AFIT became her lifestyle and professional ambition!

When asked about what she would say to those considering entering the military, Dr. Boga said, “Be ready to make sacrifices, but when you retire you will feel that it’s worth it. You will always be recognized and respected.” Thank you, Dr. Boga!
