In this issue, The AFIT Foundation is recognizing Mr. Fred Stierwalt, Former Senior Systems Engineer, for the Missile Defense Agency.

Mr. Stierwalt graduated in 1981 from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology with a BS in Electrical Engineering, and he went on to complete his MS in Electrical Engineering in 1985. He decided to join the military because of the stability it offered along with the opportunity to travel. The military also allowed him to pursue a purposeful and stimulating career. Mr. Stierwalt is now retired after serving for over 20 years at the Missile Defense Agency as a Senior Systems Engineer.

Mr. Stierwalt’s two AFIT degrees provided opportunities for him to work in the Air Force, Private Industry, and Government Service. The knowledge and academic experience he received at AFIT opened many doors for him to serve and work in his career field. Mr. Stierwalt’s favorite memory at AFIT was playing on the softball team. His advice to those who are considering entering the military is to go for it and take advantage of education, training, and travel. Thank you, Mr. Stierwalt!
