In this issue we highlight Dr. Clarence “Lance” Chenault, Maj, USAF (ret.) owner of Aerospace Business Development Associates, Inc.! Lance completed his BS in Aerospace Engineering in 1990 and went on to complete his MS and PhD in Aeronautical Engineering at AFIT.

After earning his BS degree, Dr. Chenault received his Air Force Commission and began his incredible journey serving the United States. His MS and PhD allowed him to interact with a wide range of technical, scientific, and professional people he otherwise would have never met.

Dr. Chenault ‘s favorite memory during his time at AFIT was the comradery that formed between himself and the other students. He reminisced, “Some of the heated debates we had over how to solve a problem and pizza celebrations we had in what would become Doolittle when we got it right are great memories.”

One of the most important things Dr. Chenault learned during his PhD research was to question everything. Never accept the consensus answer as the right one just because “everyone” thinks it is right.

Dr. Chenault’s advice for those who are considering joining the military is to make as many friends and contacts as possible, since one never knows when or how those relationships could impact their career. He also encourages people to never stop learning. Thank you, Dr. Chenault!
