In this highlight article, The AFIT Foundation is recognizing Dr. Richard Uber, Foreign Area Officer for the United States Air Force!

Dr. Uber graduated in 2016 from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) with a PhD in Applied Mathematics. He joined the military because of his sense of service to the United States. Dr. Uber worked as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at AFIT from 2016-2019 and is currently working as the Indo-Pacific Foreign Area Officer for the USAF!

A fond memory Dr. Uber has from his time at AFIT was combat dining in with his spouse and peers! AFIT has positively impacted Dr. Uber’s life in many ways. The deep technical knowledge and experience with the defense science and technology enterprise have allowed him to seamlessly float between technical and non-technical communities. This bridging work is foundational to his current international position at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

When asked about what he would say to those considering entering the military, Uber said, “Nowhere else can you work on the same type of challenging and deeply rewarding missions.” Thank you, Dr. Uber!
